The long-awaited 1.0 release of the Sandbox sees the light of day. Commence downloading. The Sandbox now utilizes all the features of the latest release of WordPress. Older, legacy functions are been relegated to a branched version.
Though the judges completed their difficult task of choosing winners for the SDC, I thought I would share my choice cuts from the submissions. And there were some choicey cuts.

Announcing the Sandbox Designs Competition. This is the first WordPress theme competition in a couple years. Designs will be theme templates powered by the Sandbox and will test your CSS skills. Game on!
The Sandbox version 0.9 is released. Technically still a beta, the Sandbox is inching towards becoming ‘final’ at a 1.0 release. The major change from prior versions is the removal of the GUI for Sandbox skins. Which is a good thing.
