An overhaul is good for the soul. Events have clearer significance, thoughts and words show entirely different show different meanings and subtleties, stresses fall in different places and most importantly, everything takes a little less effort.

The widths for the sidebars are set in the corresponding
/skins/
subfolder.

I've tried hard to analyze the css for the one sidebar on the right side, but I can't see where the width of the two columns is set. I want the test to be thinner and the sidebar to be wider.

Which file has the function that holds the key to setting the widths?

Hi lolly,

Yes, it is very possible, but it's going to require you learning if only the basics of CSS and adapting the styles of your current theme to the Sandbox.

I wish I could offer a simple solution, but I'd start with the theme's current style.css file—as well as starting to read up a little on CSS.

Maybe I should ask: I'm trying to use this theme to make my site look mostly like it does now, but without all the little problems (like the right sidebar not positioned correctly in IE, among other things.)

Is this even possible?

You make it sound so easy! Here I thought I was pretty good at CSS (after all, I managed to turn this: http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/3-columns/66/tiga-06/ into what is my site now).

But there are sooo many selectors (is that even the right term?) in this theme that I don't even know where to begin.

How do I add a header image?

How do I make the width not take up the whole page? The things I would normally try don't work here.

Of course, I've never actually sat down and "learned" CSS</abbr. I've just manipulated themes a bunch and I thought I kind of knew what I was doing.

Any chance there's a tutorial/guide coming for editing some of the basics in this theme?

An idea: could we not somehow add the page slug as a body class so that one can hide specific sidebar elements (or the whole sidebar) on specific pages? It seems a little difficult to pull off given that the only the "page" class is added and the only unique class is lower down the hierarchy.

The things is, Shawna, if you can learn and apply even the basics of CSS, you can skin the Sandbox. Then, as your CSS skills improve, you can do all sorts of things.

It's basically removing the need to become familiar with PHP and to some extent XHTML, and just work with CSS.

It's for anyone who wants to create their own theme (or "skin" as it is for the Sandbox).
