If you’re interested in reading about the next release of Minimalist Sandbox, head over to Andy’s blog to read about the semantic classes that are being generated for the body element.
I really agree with Andy’s observation that this theme is really wonderful for CSS artists—ahem, er, designers. I mean, Andy made the Minimalist Sandbox look just like Kubrick. And this afternoon I did the same with Classic. (Classic, by the way, really should be retired. It’s dated.) Read Andy’s post. And tingle.
I had a first revision, then Andy (and, oh my, that was quite the revision), and it was back to me. I’ve added another class function and piddled around here and there. I’m getting together a readme.html so we can all see how these semantic classes work, where they are, etc.
Stay tuned. It’s going to be a fantastic reference, tool, toy, distraction, and so on.

nextbigthing, huh?
it’ll be interesting to see what you guys have come up with.
Yes, I think it was Tagyu was quite impressed with my post. Let’s just hope I don’t ruin their reputation.
haha, i’ve never used those tagyu suggestions. normally i make a point of clicking all the buttons i can find, but those two just seem weird to me.
oh, and yeah, andy’s refusal to use the word ‘designers’ is hilarious in an experiment about semantics.
Oh, let Andy be.
He’s just hyping the thing. (And doing a good job of it, too. Even I’m excited.) And as far as taking liberties with language are concerned, it’s likely I’ll be eating that “nextbigthing.”
And after reading Chris’s comment on Andy’s post, I’ve implmented the hAtom schema.
It’ll really be fun to make themes for, to skin, the Sandbox. But that’s only part of the Sandbox’s purpose.
I learned heaps from this project, and maybe others can as well. That’s all. I doubt it’ll satiate those complaining of the “slow-down.”
sleeping dogs are why god invented sticks
which is a shame. this should be a pretty significant advance as far as themes go, but i think the naysayers have gone too far to consider reversing their position.
Har, har, har. Very funny. Blogs are such great fun if only for the commenting, eh?
Well. Let’s see. The Sandbox might not solve every themer’s problem, but it will (and I think this is great) give newer themers a great place to get their feet wet, and, at least, have excellent markup to learn from.
Nay to the naysayers!
